Coastal Encounters
Nature Center
The center is located at the former Coast Guard station on East Beach, Saint Simons Island. Built in 1937 and currently under the care of the Coastal Landmark Preservation Society, the building is one of the most stunning and historically cherished structures in the area.

Beautiful beaches and saltwater marshes surround the Center, providing excellent opportunities for environmental exploration.

Coastal Encounters nature Center provides programs and tours for individuals and families on a daily basis. Special programs and field trips for specific groups such as school classes, church groups, clubs and senior citizens groups can be scheduled. Outreach programs, birthday parties and overnight accommodations can also be arranged.

Information on these topics as well as additional points of interest in the area including Fort Frederica, the St. Simons Lighthouse, Fort King George and the Jekyll Island Historical District can be obtained by e-mail or by calling the center at (912) 638-0221.
